Dinos at AMNH

Argentinosaurus
(currently considered the world's largest dinosaur)
body length up to 130 feet (40 meters) long
weight could reach 90 tons (82,000 kg)
lived about 95 million years ago, found in Argentina

a life-sized, fleshed-out model of a 60-foot-long, 11-foot-tall (at the hip) female Mamenchisaurus
neck length: 30 feet (9 meters)
weight: 13 tons (11,800 kg)
lived: 160 million years ago, in what is now China

this represents about 1,000 pounds (450 kg) of food that sauropods,
the group of long-necked plant-eating dinosaurs, need to eat a day

model representing the respiratory system of sauropods

The World's Largest Dinosaurs exhibit runs through January 2, 2012.
